A brief about me: I’m 27 years old, with sensitive skin. The last four years have taken a toll on my skin, and led my self confidence and self esteem to hit rock bottom. The reason? Skin allergies caused uncontrollable itchy skin, extreme dryness, and unmanageable acne. Today, I’m much higher on the scale of self love and it all starts within.
During the pre-lockdown years of 2018 and 2019, I tried a natural skincare brand, and the natural, 100% vegan, cruelty-free products have won me over! This story lets you in on some secret ingredients from Coco Soul’s natural skincare range and my natural skin care tips - I’m so excited to share them with you!
Natural Skincare Routine That Saved My Skin
Pimples have been a part of my appearance for almost a decade now, but right before lockdown, I developed skin allergies. It was hives, to be specific, which can really affect the mental health, confidence, self esteem, and make you snappy all day long. What helped?
A custom skin care routine, a change in my diet, a healthier lifestyle, and the conscious decision to switch to what is best for my skin - it was extremely rewarding. Here are some natural skin care tips I’ll recommend, along with my Coco Soul favourites, to help you switch to natural skin care.
-
Cleanser - I realised I was stripping my skin of its natural oils and triggering acne with a chemical face wash. A ‘multani mitti’ face mask came to the rescue. This is Fuller’s Earth, which cools the skin and cleanses gently. I mixed this with the rose water - and, there goes the perfect remedy. But for me, this wasn’t a permanent solution. Here’s the product that worked equally well. It’s ideal to look for a face wash that’s natural, bursting with the goodness of vitamins, and is powered with organic herbs. Coco Soul’s Natural Face Wash mixes the magic of neem and coconut oil with gotukola. This cleanser is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, made with the goodness of Ayurveda and washed off the impurities from my face, without making it dry.
-
Exfoliator - Using a face scrub to exfoliate dead skin can be scary for someone with sensitive skin - it would either remove my acne, or inflame my skin and cause more acne. While oatmeal, aloe vera, coconut milk, and coffee showed up as natural exfoliators, I was still hesitant to give a DIY scrub a try. This is where Coco Soul’s Face Scrub came in. This sandalwood-rich scrub gave me lighter blackheads, smoother skin, and I also felt some of my stress melt away when I used this soft, gentle exfoliator. Venivel and coconut oil in this product took care of the hydration my skin needed.
-
Moisturiser - Since my skin is dry, I only needed this step during the winter season or dry summer months. However, this homemade moisturiser will smoothen your skin throughout the year, depending on your skin type - coconut oil and honey. I even added some lavender oil essence to the mixture. This calming, soothing, and softening moisturiser worked wonders! I opted for Coco Soul’s Body Butter and it felt like coconutty goodness in its purest form.
-
Body Lotion - While a facial moisturiser was fairly easy to make at home, I needed a product when it came to body nourishment. I was looking for the best natural body lotion out there, which was paraben-free, soothing on the skin, and made with simple yet effective ingredients. Since the scrub from Coco Soul worked so well for me, I tried their Organic Body Lotion - it made its place in my skincare kit and how! It’s also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. I feel good, look good, and I’m choosing good!
